Big Sound with Bluegrass Band Bowregard

March 2021
”Last February, while attending the Winter Wondergrass festival in Steamboat, one band in particular stopped me dead in my Sorels. To my surprise, it wasn’t a headliner, nor one of the many acts who appeared on the main stage that weekend. Tucked in the corner of the beer-tasting tent, was a small stage, producing a BIG sound. The band was Bowregard. Their stage energy and musicianship during that set left an impression on everyone there…”

Album Review: Arrows

Aug 18, 2020
”Fortunately, while it’s a set of songs that’s deeply rooted in traditional realms, it’s a musical mix that’s sewn together with feckless picking, a strong collection of mostly original material, and an upbeat enthusiasm that reflects their obvious affection for their chosen genre.” –Lee Zimmerman

Americana Roots - Bowregard

Aug 7, 2020
“The affinity for the traditional and old-time is at the heart of who Bowregard is.  Even with a blistering energy reminiscent of a rock show present in their live sets, Bowregard is guided by the beauty that can be found in the early traditional elements of bluegrass and how they can present that for a new generation.” –Tim Newby

Local Listen – Bowregard Finds The Silver Lining With Debut Album

Aug 13, 2020
“‘Fallen Angels’,” written by Kabat and the album’s first track, immediately boasts the highest quality and skill that Bowregard has to offer. The song is the first of a few highlights, the second of which is ‘High on a Mountain’, an old-timey tune that falls in line with traditional bluegrass, a beloved genre of both the band’s and of Kabat’s in particular. The back-to-back lineup of that tune followed by the banjo-heavy, Celtic-influenced instrumental ‘Cousin Sally Brown’ firmly seals the deal only halfway through the album. The album’s namesake, ‘Arrows’, comes towards the end and oozes a wailing, country-grass sound that keeps up well with the genre’s fast-paced and high-tempo musicality.” –Emma Jerry

”When putting a band together, one of the most important factors to consider is chemistry. Perhaps even more important than talent, chemistry is something that cannot be forced; it’s naturally there or it isn’t…”

The Five Archers

“We caught up with Bowregard’s fiddle player and vocalist Colleen Heine — who relocated to Colorado from Savannah, Georgia, in 2016 — to discuss her reaction to the overwhelming support generated by the band’s Kickstarter campaign, some of her favorite tracks on the album, her journey into pickin’ and who she hopes to share a stage with once the public can gather again without restrictions.” –Kalene McCourt

Bluegrass Band Bowregard Takes on the Killdozer Story

July 28, 2020
”When the members of Front Range bluegrass band Bowregard were looking for subjects on which to base songs for their debut album, Arrows, they found Heemeyer's tale irresistible. ‘The story itself is almost unbelievable: A disgruntled man secretly builds an armored bulldozer in his shed, then goes on a rampage destroying buildings connected to people who he felt wronged him,’ says Justin Konrad, Bowregard’s resonator-guitar player.” –Kyle Harris
